About Lyme Disease
The Design of Comprehensive LD Treatment Strategy

Anti-Pathogens.

Based on the nature of the chronic LD, anti-pathogenic treatments must meet following requirements:

1.
LD as a tick-borne disease and has multiple pathogen infections, the anti-pathogens treatment must have a wide anti-microbial spectrum
--anti-spirochete, anti-Babesia, anti-Bartonella, anti-Human Monocytic Ehrlichiosis (HME), and anti-Mycoplasma.

2.
Due to the involvement of the central nervous system, the substances used for treating this chronic disease must be able to penetrate the blood brain barriers. Thus, the treatment agent must have a small molecular weight and be penetrative to the BBB.

3.
In addition, the agent must not cause fungal overgrowth, which is a common problem that long-term antibiotics treatment has.

4.

The anti-spirochete treatment is a long-term treatment, so the substances used must be low in toxicity and with minimum adverse reactions.

5.
The administration of the treatment must be easy, to avoid procedures such as intravenous infusion.

6.
It should be safe, effective and affordable.

Constitutional and Supportive Treatments.

The Bb and multiple co-infections trigger inflammations, such as the arthritis, vasculitis, fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy. This type of  inflammation is autoimmune in nature and often caused by the deposit of circulatory immune complex (CIC) at the joints, the blood vessels, and the muscle. The treatment should be able to suppress the autoimmunity and the removal of the CIC.

The treatment must be able to suppress the production of auto-antibodies (suppressing the humeral immunity) and to promote the phagocytosis of the macrophages to remove the CIC. The CNS symptoms, such as cognition disorder, memory loss, mind foggy are caused by vasculitis, which block the blood infusion to the brain and cause ischemia in the brain. In order to improve brain function, first we must control the vasculitis and increase the blood infusion to the brain. In order to promote the repair of LD damaged tissues in the joints, muscle, brain, and peripheral nerve,  increasing the blood infusion to these tissues is very important. While suppressing the humeral immunity, we also need to enhance the cellular immunity at the same time to enhance the body’s ability to eliminate the pathogens.
