The severity degrees of NASH
The fat deposited in the liver cells is
mainly triglyceride and the severity of the disease is parallel to the
amount of the fat in the liver. Histologically, if half of the liver cells
have steatosis, or the total fat weight is greater than 5% of the weight
of the liver, then steatohepatitis can be diagnosed. When 25 to 50% of the
liver weight is made of fat, the disease has advanced to its most severe
stage.
